Biography

Born in Andhra Pradesh, India, in the year 1988, this self-taught filmmaker has a strong conviction that creativity cannot be taught, and he is determined to prove it. When he initially shared his passion for cinema with his family, they were faced with immense pressure to enroll in a film institute or work under an established filmmaker, which he refused to do, as he believed in forging his own path. Undeterred, he started his journey from scratch, entering global ad competitions and creating short films, which ultimately led to him winning international awards twice, in the Mofilm festivals held in Goa and Kathmandu, in 2010 and 2011, respectively. These prestigious awards, which were judged by notable industry professionals like Jon Landau, Forest Whitaker, and Jesse Eisenberg, earned him a spot in the top 10 Mofilm Indian filmmakers, a remarkable achievement at the beginning of his career. This experience further solidified his understanding of the importance of self-learning, the freedom to make mistakes, and the constant pursuit of improving his craft. Emboldened by this newfound confidence, he decided to experiment with his very first short film, Backspace, which he single-handedly shot, edited, and dubbed using only an iPhone 4s, a pioneering feat at the time, and one that inspired many others to follow in his footsteps.
