Philip's first foray into show business came at the tender age of nine, when he and his brother auditioned for and worked on a French short film. This early experience led him to meet cinematographer Claude Renoir, grandson of the famous painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Philip's professional career has taken him to various locations around the world, including Los Angeles, Honolulu, Las Vegas, and Paris. He is married to Mia Marcus and is the father of actress Sophie Marcus and the brother of art director Michael Marcus.

As a director and cinematographer, Philip has honed his skills in a variety of genres, from avant-garde filmmaking to documentary production. He has also had the opportunity to learn from the great Alfred Hitchcock, attending his lectures and classes.

Philip's early career was marked by his work with the Cousteau research team, where he served as a team coordinator and underwater cameraman. This experience culminated in the production and direction of a documentary on scuba diving, featuring Jean-Michel Cousteau.

Philip's subsequent work in television and film production has included managing the production of a number of films, including "Vipers", "Squeeze Play", "Under One Flag", "The Turning", "Singles", "Bloody Madonna", "Taken Alive", and "Odd Man Out".

In the 1980s, Philip entered the burgeoning world of music videos, working with top bands and musicians under Motown and A&M Records. During this time, he directed and lensed over 85 music videos, including "You Give Love a Bad Name" by Bon Jovi, which won the "Best Music Video of the Year" award at the American Music Awards.

Philip's music video work also included collaborations with Michael Jackson on "We Are the World" and work as a second-unit director of photography on the film "Return of Bruno", starring Bruce Willis.

In addition to his music video work, Philip has also written, produced, and directed several television shows, including "LA Rocks", starring Sherman Hemsley, and feature films such as "Terror on Alcatraz", "Jan and Dean: The China Tour", and "James Brown: The Man, the Music, and the Message".
