Biography

Piers Paul Read, the son of renowned art historian Herbert Read, embarked on a literary career that would span decades, commencing with his tenure as a critic for the esteemed Times Literary Supplement. Prior to his ascent as a novelist, Read pursued his academic pursuits at the prestigious University of Cambridge. It was during his time in Berlin that he penned his debut novel, "Game in Heaven," co-authored with Tussy Marx, in 1966. This inaugural literary endeavor was widely regarded as one of the most promising works of the decade, showcasing Read's remarkable talent. Subsequently, he went on to write another notable novel, "The Junkers," in 1968, further solidifying his reputation as a masterful storyteller.
