Pip's professional journey began in 2006 when he founded Blue Hippo Media Ltd (BHM),a media production company that emerged from his years of experience running a charity organization focused on empowering young people through media. Under his leadership, BHM has established an impressive reputation both domestically and internationally for its diverse range of media projects.
BHM's filming work has taken the company to various parts of the world, including Europe, the Middle East, the United States, New Zealand, and South Korea. In 2008, the company made its mark by winning its first major film award for an international documentary about Andy Parkin, a world-class alpinist and artist. The film received the special jury prize at the prestigious Kendal Mountain Film Festival, one of the most renowned festivals in the genre. It also went on to win the best film award at the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.
In 2009, BHM produced its first feature film, a UK-New Zealand co-production titled "The Insatiable Moon," in collaboration with Lord of the Rings producer Tim Sanders. The film was released theatrically in New Zealand and the United Kingdom and has since won several awards, including best film at the Moondance Festival in the United States and best actor and best supporting actor at the New Zealand Film and Television Awards.
Pip's next project was a feature documentary titled "Last Shop Standing," which was shot in 2011-2012 and screened in over 100 cinemas in the United Kingdom and internationally. The film received critical acclaim and was selected as the official Record Store Day film for 2013 globally.
Since then, Pip has directed four more feature documentaries and executive produced two others. He also teaches part-time on an MA in film distribution and marketing, which he helped develop, as well as on an MA in feature film development. Furthermore, Pip has returned to running the media charity OSBD, which he originally founded.
