Born in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida, where he spent his formative years, he embarked on a higher education journey at Columbia University, where he majored in both English Literature and Architecture.
Following his undergraduate studies, he ventured into the world of film by enrolling in the Graduate Film School, where he had the privilege of studying directing under the tutelage of renowned filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Brian De Palma.
Throughout his career, he has explored various creative avenues, including music, film editing, studio recording engineering, teaching at esteemed institutions such as Columbia, UCLA, and USC, and even working as a groom at Calder Racetrack.
In addition to his professional pursuits, he has also honed his skills by studying editing with the accomplished Ralph Rosenblum and acting with the talented Brad Dourif.
His impressive body of work has garnered numerous accolades, including being named Best Independent Director of the Year at the Hamptons International Film Festival for his critically acclaimed film The Desperate Trail (1994),which he wrote and directed.
Furthermore, he has received a Special Grand Jury Award for his short film The Afterlife of Grandpa (1989) at the Houston International Film Festival and the Young Filmmaker of the Year award from the Edinburgh Film Festival.
His remarkable achievements have also earned him prestigious awards, including the Grey Advertising's Student Filmmaker Award and a Presidential Fellowship from Columbia University's School of the Arts.
