Person Biography:
Qiu Jiongjiong, a renowned contemporary Chinese artist, was born in 1977 in Leshan, Sichuan, China. Growing up, he was exposed to the world of art and performance from a young age, as his grandfather was a famous Sichuan opera harlequin actor. Qiu began painting at the age of 2 and performing Sichuan opera at the age of 3. As he grew older, he continued to explore his creative talents, eventually becoming active in both independent film and painting.
Early Career:
Qiu's early works were primarily static paintings. However, in 2007, he made a significant shift, abandoning his traditional painting style and embracing dynamic video methods. During this period, he completed his debut documentary, "The Moon Palace." This marked the beginning of his transition from a painter to a filmmaker.
Film Career:
Qiu's filmography includes a range of short films and feature-length productions. Some of his notable works include "Rehearsal" (2008),"Huang Lao Lao" (2009),"The Moon Palace" (2007),"Auntie" (2010),"Xuan Tang Gossip Record" (2011),"Infatuation" (2015),and "Jiao Ma Tang Hui" (2021). His films often explore themes related to his hometown of Leshan in Sichuan and the world of Sichuan opera, which are deeply rooted in his personal identity.

"Infatuation" was shortlisted for several prestigious film festivals, including the 68th Locarno International Film Festival, the 15th MoMA International Documentary Festival, and the 40th Hong Kong International Film Festival. As his first feature film, "Jiao Ma Tang Hui" won several awards, including the CNC cash prize of the Golden Venture Capital Conference, the HUBERT BALS FUND script and development fund of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the WHITE LIGHT post-production award of the Hong Kong Asian Film Investment Association, and the Later fund for the Greater Paris Area of France.
