Biography

Fariala Alolea Albert, professionally known as Rafiki Fariala, embarked on his life's journey on November 17, 1997, in the picturesque town of Ulvira, situated in the province of Kivu, within the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

From 2006 to 2009, he had the privilege of attending Pedro Pio Catholic School, where he spent several formative years under the guidance of dedicated educators. Following his elementary education, he moved on to the esteemed Enfant Jésus des Pères Carmes Déchaux seminary from 2010 to 2013, where he continued to hone his academic skills and develop his character.

As he embarked on his academic journey at the seminary, he devoted a significant amount of time to cultivating his vocal talents, overseeing the direction of the choir, and refining his voice through dedicated practice and training.

It was during this period that his ardor for music began to intensify, sparked by his discovery of the influential religious group Makoma. This newfound inspiration led him to embark on a creative odyssey, crafting original compositions entirely on his own initiative, as he poured his heart and soul into the creation of music that was both personal and meaningful.

In the year 2013, a pivotal moment in the life of this talented individual, he created his debut single under the pseudonym RAFIKI - RH20, a song titled "Why War?", which surprisingly garnered an enormous amount of success, setting the stage for a bright and promising musical career.

In the year 2017, he was meticulously chosen from a pool of 150 talented candidates to participate in a documentary workshop, expertly organized by the renowned Ateliers Varan in the vibrant city of Bangui.

Following this prestigious workshop, he went on to direct his inaugural film, a cinematic masterpiece titled "Mbi na Mo" (You and Me),which showcased his burgeoning skills as a filmmaker.

The motion picture in question garnered significant acclaim at a multitude of renowned film festivals, with its presence being felt at the Lausanne International Film Festival, the Montréal International Documentary Festival, the Festival International de Cinéma de Saint-Denis, the Lille International Film Festival, and the Biarritz International Festival of Audiovisual Documentary (FIPADOC).
