Raline Shah was born on March 4, 1985, in Jakarta, Indonesia, to a family with roots in Medan, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and Singapore. Her early years were spent in Medan, where she attended an International School during her primary school years. Later, she moved to Singapore for her junior college and university years, graduating from the National University of Singapore in 2008 with two degrees in Political Science & New Media and Communications.
Raline Shah began her career in 2008, participating in the Indonesian Beauty Contest (Puteri Indonesia 2008),where she represented North Sumatra and won the Most Favourable Puteri Indonesia title, although she did not win the Puteri Indonesia crown. This marked the beginning of her acting career, which has since seen her take on a variety of roles in films.
During her time in Singapore, Raline worked as a model, but was told she was not tall enough and not pretty enough to succeed in the industry, despite her statuesque figure at 5'8". However, she has always maintained a friendly and approachable personality, evident in her social media posts featuring international public figures.
Raline Shah is an animal lover and divides her time between Jakarta and Medan. She is eager to explore more roles on the big screen and is known for using method acting to fully immerse herself in her characters. In fact, while filming the movie Supernova, she even worked as an intern at a magazine office in Indonesia to better understand her character.
Raline Shah has been recognized for her talents, including a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Indonesian Film Festival in 2015. Although she did not win, she expressed gratitude for the nomination and is particular about the scripts she accepts, often requiring them to be written in English so she can fully comprehend the story.
Despite her success, Raline Shah remains down-to-earth and charitable, using her platform to make a positive impact on those around her.
