Native British stage and film actor Ralph Lister was born on the desk of the British High Commissioner in New Delhi, India. As the son of a British diplomat, Ralph spent his youth traveling abroad, attending kindergarten in Austria and high school in various countries including Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, and Indonesia.
After an elitist education in private schools in the South of England, Ralph won an English-Speaking Union scholarship to a prep school in Connecticut, graduating Cum Laude after two semesters. He took to all kinds of mischief during his time in America, which he still chuckles about today with his life-long friends.
Ralph hitch-hiked from London to Rome and back at the age of 16, sleeping in fields and under bridges, and living off a daily budget of $1.00, eating bread and tomatoes, and discovering the delights of red wine. He later attended Durham University in the North-East of England, where he earned a BA Hons in Modern History and continued to act.
After university, Ralph immersed himself in English-language teaching in Madrid and Zaragoza, Spain, and at summer camps in Andalusia and Murcia. He later trained briefly in radio in London and secured a job as a DJ on the pirate radio ship The Voice of Peace, anchored in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Ralph then moved to the United States, working in Houston, Texas, for a local AOR radio station. He later moved to Hong Kong for a full 10 years, where he traveled extensively throughout China and ran a transshipment center in the Philippines.
After gaining a US green card in 1997, Ralph pursued his passion for acting, working in New Orleans and Los Angeles. He has since accumulated numerous on-camera and stage credits, and has won several awards for his performances.
As an audiobook narrator, Ralph has recorded over 130 titles and directed 13 others, across all genres. When not filming, he records from his home studio, accompanied by his cat, Gabby.
