Ramsey Nouah was born on December 19, 1970, in Lagos, Nigeria, and his journey began with aspirations to become a musician. However, his friend's advice to take a stab at acting led him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
At the age of 21, Nouah auditioned and won the role of Jeff in the Nigerian television soap opera, Fortunes. The show was a massive hit, and by the age of 23, he was already a household name in Nigeria. His captivating performance as Jeff earned him widespread recognition and made him one of the most recognizable faces in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
In 1996, Nouah made his major screen movie debut in the well-received Silent Night. He went on to perform in numerous Nigerian home videos, mainly playing romantic roles, which earned him the nickname "Lover Boy". His performances in these films showcased his versatility as an actor and his ability to take on complex roles.
In 2004, Nouah starred in the film Dangerous Twins, which cemented his status as a multi-layered actor. His performance as a good and bad twin, Taiye and Kehinde, demonstrated his range and depth as an actor. By this time, his fame had transcended the shores of Nigeria and was exceeding Africa.
Throughout his career, Nouah has been recognized for his immense contribution to the African entertainment industry. He has won numerous awards for his acting and has been hailed as one of Africa's greatest actors of all time. In 2009, he portrayed a socially awkward fresh graduate in The Figurine, which further showcased his acting range.
In 2010, Nouah won the Best Actor award at the African Movie Academy Awards for his performance in The Figurine. He is also a pioneer and ambassador of the Nigerian movie industry, also known as Nollywood, and has founded his own movie production company, Ramseyfilms.
