Biography

Randa Ali is a multifaceted director and writer, effortlessly navigating the creative landscapes of Los Angeles and Cairo.

In 2023, she achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating with an MFA in directing from the prestigious UCLA's school of theater, film and television, where she was awarded a full-ride scholarship specifically designated for female filmmakers from the Arab world.

Her impressive body of work began to take shape with the release of her first short film, Kingdom of Strangers, in 2022. This thought-provoking exploration of memory and exile garnered widespread recognition, including the prestigious ARRI Franz Weiser grant and top honors at the Toronto Arab Film Festival, Cairo International Shorts Film Festival, and Beirut Shorts.

Most recently, her short film Mango made its world premiere at the esteemed Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2024.

Randa's creative endeavors are deeply rooted in her fascination with the intricate relationships between individuals and their cities. As she continues to hone her craft, she is currently developing her first feature film, a testament to her dedication to storytelling and artistic expression.
