Randy Austin was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and spent his childhood in the nearby city of Port Allen, situated directly across the Mississippi River from his birthplace. This small-town upbringing had a profound impact on his early life and would later influence his decision to reside in the area even to this day.
As a child, Randy developed an interest in acting while studying White Crane Gung Fu, a martial art that emphasized the importance of discipline, focus, and physical coordination. He found himself drawn to the art of performing, particularly in front of live audiences, and envisioned a future in which he would work in martial arts action films.
Despite his confidence in his martial arts abilities, Randy recognized the need to develop his craft as an actor. He began taking acting classes in and around Baton Rouge, devouring books on the subject, and auditioning for theatre roles. This rigorous training regimen allowed him to discover a newfound passion for character-driven work, which gradually shifted his focus away from solely pursuing a career in martial arts action films.
On stage, Randy honed his improvisational skills, developing a keen ability to think on his feet and respond to unexpected situations. After refining his acting abilities, he started submitting to agencies for representation, eventually landing an agent and beginning to audition for film projects.
Throughout his career, Randy has had the opportunity to work with some of his on-screen idols, including Burt Reynolds, Andre Braugher, Billy Bob Thornton, Tommy Lee Jones, Mark Wahlberg, Ryan Reynolds, and Michael Rooker. He has also had the privilege of collaborating with acclaimed directors, such as Tony Scott on the film DEJA VU, which remains one of his all-time favorite film experiences.
More recently, Randy had the opportunity to work with critically acclaimed director Ramin Bahrani on the film 99 HOMES, starring Andrew Garfield, Michael Shannon, and Laura Dern. This experience was particularly rewarding, as it allowed him to continue growing as an actor and expanding his repertoire.
In addition to his work in film, Randy has continued to train in and teach various styles of martial arts, including Ryu Hen Do, Nihon Goshin Aikido, MMA, and Krav Maga. This ongoing commitment to his craft has not only helped him stay physically fit but also provided a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
Throughout his journey, Randy has remained committed to his growth as an actor and his passion for the craft. He looks forward to continuing to take on new challenges and working with talented individuals in the industry.
