Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, a renowned filmmaker made his fiction film debut with 12 Horas in 2001, which he wrote, directed, and edited. This groundbreaking film received the Audience Choice award at the Chicago Latino Film Festival and a special mention as Best Narrative and Best New Director at the 2002 Tribeca Film Festival. Moreover, it was selected as Puerto Rico's official entry to the 2001 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.
The filmmaker's subsequent work includes a remake of the 1962 Spanish film Atraco a las 3 y Media in 2003, produced by Pedro Maso. He then directed the drama Bala Perdida in 2003, for which he received the Best Editing award at the Icaro Film Festival in Guatemala. He also worked on the television film El Cuerpo del Delito in 2005 and co-edited the Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony starring El Cantante in 2006, directed by Leon Ichaso.
In 2007, the filmmaker directed and edited Manuela y Manuel, the first Puerto Rican film with a gay lead, and Chiquito pero Juguetón, featuring the late comedian Luis Raul.
His subsequent feature film, Broche de Oro, released in 2012, was a massive box office success and starred award-winning actor and director Jacobo Morales in the lead role.
In 2017, the filmmaker wrote, edited, and directed OVNI, the first science fiction comedy film from the Dominican Republic, as well as the prequel Broche de Oro: Comienzos.
As an editor, he has worked on several feature films, including Ana (2020) starring Andy Garcia, Primal (2019) starring Nicholas Cage, American Traitor (2021) starring Al Pacino, and Force of Nature (2020) starring Mel Gibson. He has also edited the television update Fantasy Island (2021) with Roselyn Sanchez and the original YouTube episodic drama Bravas (2020).
The filmmaker's latest feature film, Daniel El Travieso, which he co-wrote, edited, and directed, is set to premiere in 2023.
