Ravi Kinagi's life story unfolds with his birth into a family of Kannada descent, where his father, Shankar Kinagi, a multifaceted individual with a background in both production and direction, significantly influenced Kinagi's comprehension of the intricacies involved in the filmmaking process. This formative experience, coupled with Kinagi's upbringing in the vibrant city of Mumbai, played a pivotal role in nurturing his early fascination with the world of cinema, a passion that would eventually come to define his life's work.
As Kinagi embarked on his professional journey, he had the privilege of working alongside illustrious production houses, including the prestigious Rajshri Films, where he played a crucial role in the development of several notable projects, such as the thought-provoking Paheli, the captivating Naiyya, and the action-packed Kanoon Ka Shikar.
Following his tenure with Rajshri Films, Kinagi went on to collaborate with esteemed directors, including the renowned S Ramanathan, the accomplished Anil Ganguly, and the respected Prashant Nanda.
Kinagi, a skilled filmmaker, leveraged his expertise to direct not one, but two Marathi films, namely Manuski and Halahal, thereby further refining his craft. Subsequently, he made the transition to the Odia film industry, marking a significant career shift. His maiden Odia film, Manini, went on to achieve a remarkable feat, becoming the first film in Odisha to celebrate a Silver Jubilee, a testament to his burgeoning reputation as a talented and accomplished filmmaker.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Kinagi made a seamless transition from one realm to another, ultimately finding himself in the vibrant Kolkata Bengali film industry, where he has since directed a plethora of films, frequently choosing to remake popular movies that have resonated with audiences. Notwithstanding his immense success, Kinagi's linguistic prowess remains truly remarkable, with him boasting fluency in an impressive seven languages, including Kannada, Hindi, English, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, and even displaying a decent grasp of broken Bengali.
