Raymond Cornelius Boyle, professionally known as Dirk London, was a prolific American character actor who made a significant impact on the small screen during the 1950s. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Morgan Earp, a historical figure who lived from 1851 to 1882, in an impressive 15 episodes of the popular television series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, which starred Hugh O'Brian as the legendary gunfighter Wyatt Earp.
Throughout his acting career, Boyle consistently found steady work in various western and police shows, including recurring roles in Gang Busters, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, Highway Patrol, and Gunsmoke. His talent and versatility also led to a rare higher-profile role, where he played a gangster who collaborates with Martians in the comedic science fiction serial Zombies of the Stratosphere, produced by Republic Pictures in 1952. Interestingly, the young Leonard Nimoy, who would later become a renowned actor and star of the popular television series Star Trek, appeared in the same serial as one of the zombies.
After retiring from acting, Boyle transitioned to a career in production design and art direction, working on a few films in the 1970s. His personal life was marked by a long-term marriage to actress Jan Shepard, whom he wed in 1954.
