Rebecca Street was born in Los Angeles, but her family relocated to Maryland when she was just one year old. She and her four brothers attended Catholic Schools in Washington, DC, where she developed a strong educational foundation.
Before embarking on her acting career, Rebecca worked as a high school English teacher for three years, honing her skills and gaining valuable experience.
Rebecca's journey as an actor began in Washington, D.C., where she received her Equity card from the esteemed Arena Stage. Prior to making the move to Manhattan, she spent twenty-four years in Los Angeles, raising her children and working in TV and film.
Throughout her career, Rebecca has performed in numerous TV episodics, films, and commercials, but she is perhaps most notable for her two-year portrayal of a woman with AIDS on "The Young & Restless" from 1988 to 1990.
Currently, Rebecca resides and works in NYC, where she has accumulated an impressive list of credits, including HBO's "Mildred Pierce," "House of Cards," and a standout performance as Mary Tyrone in "Long Day's Journey into Night" Off Broadway.
In 2017, Rebecca starred in Gore Verbinski's film, "A Cure for Wellness," which took her to Berlin for filming.
As a passionate social activist, Rebecca has directed eighteen plays, both modern and classical, in programs designed to bring theatre to the homeless and those in hospice care. She has also taught poetry and acting to marginalized populations and served on the Boards of Shanti, The Neighborhood Youth Association, and PATH (People Assisting the Homeless).
Rebecca has been a panelist at a UCLA forum, titled "Real to Reel: The Media's Response to Women with HIV/AIDS," and has performed in charity benefits across the country.
In addition to her acting career, Rebecca is a talented poet and writer, and the author of "You Can Help: A Guide for Family & Friends of Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Assault," which was published in 2016.
Rebecca is a proud mother of two children, Abbot Street, a writer and teacher, and Amanda Street, an actor and filmmaker.
