Reg Tupper was born and raised in the city of Vancouver, where both sides of his family were prominent figures in the legal profession. Despite this, he chose to pursue a career in acting, starting his studies at the University of British Columbia before moving on to The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, England.
Following his education, Tupper returned to Canada in the mid-1970s and established himself as a talented performer, appearing in numerous shows across the country, including productions at The Stratford Festival. During this time, he also began his radio career, working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, broadcasting news and current events across Canada on the national network, as well as in the Ontario and Toronto markets.
In the early 1980s, Tupper purchased the rights to a theatrical hit from Vancouver and produced it to great critical acclaim in Toronto. He went on to produce or co-produce several other works at the same venue over the next two years.
However, in 1984, Tupper left the entertainment industry and returned to Vancouver, where he worked in various roles over the next decade, including as an investment advisor for a major Canadian brokerage firm, as an associate in a prominent BC public affairs partnership, as the Director of Marketing and Sales for one of BC's most successful fishing lodges, and as the general partner of a private fishing retreat.
In 1994, Tupper returned to acting as the local industry grew and expanded. He continues to work in film and television in Vancouver, where he sits on the Executive Board of the Union of BC Performers/ACTRA. Additionally, he is enrolled at Capilano University in their new Bachelor of Performing Arts program.
