After participating in the Million Man March, Reggie Bythewood took on the task of writing the screenplay for Spike Lee's independent film, "Get On The Bus". Not only did Bythewood craft the screenplay, but he also made a significant financial investment in the project.
Bythewood's writing skills were further showcased when he contributed to the rewrites for the Fox Searchlight film, "Notorious". He was awarded a first-position written by credit, sharing the distinction with the film's initial writer.
Bythewood made his feature film directorial debut with the acclaimed independent film, "Dancing in September", which was subsequently acquired by HBO and transformed into an HBO original movie.
In addition to his work on "Dancing in September", Bythewood has written and directed a diverse range of films and documentaries, including "Biker Boyz", the Laila Ali documentary "Daddy's Girl", the ESPN 30-for-30 documentary "One Night In Vegas", and the two-hour action pilot "Gun Hill" for BET. The latter earned Bythewood the 2014 NAACP Image Award for Best Director.
In 2014, Bythewood took on a new role as producer for the film "Beyond The Lights", which was written and directed by his wife, Gina Prince-Bythewood.
