Rhona Rees is a highly accomplished and multi-talented individual with over 28 years of experience in the entertainment industry. She began her career as a child actor in Australia, landing her first lead role at the tender age of 11 alongside Australian screen legend Ernie Dingo.
Throughout her busy career in Australia, Rhona enjoyed a variety of lead and supporting roles in popular television series, including Ocean girl, Blabbermouth, Stickybeak, and High Flyers. In 2012, she made the move to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she has continued to thrive.
Rhona is particularly renowned for her impressive voice work, which has included a range of animated series, such as The Dragon Prince, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Lego Ninjago, Polly Pocket, and Littlest Pet Shop. She has also lent her voice to numerous video games, including Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Dragalia Lost, as well as hundreds of commercials for major brands like Hyundai, Chromebook, Huggies, and Manulife.
In addition to her work as a performer, Rhona has also begun to make a name for herself as a voice director. Her credits in this field include 'My First Barbie: Happy DreamDay' and 'Isabel and Nicki's Super Duper Twin Adventures' for Mattel, as well as a Nintendo RPG and a preschool special for PBS.
As an emerging screenwriter and director, Rhona has already made a significant impact in the industry. Her short film FREYA has won multiple awards at film festivals around the world, including the Newport Beach Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, and Etheria. The film was acquired by CBC Gem in Canada and Dust worldwide, excluding Canada. Rhona won the AACTA & Monster Pictures 'Mother' pitch competition in 2022 and is currently adapting FREYA into a feature film. She will be pitching FREYA at the Frontières international co-production market in Montreal in July 2023.
Rhona's subsequent short film, Call Button, which she wrote and directed, has played at various festivals, including the Mammoth Film Festival, the Sonoma International Film Festival, and the Dam Short fest. She has also developed a 2D kids series with WildBrain studios in 2020.
In addition to her work in the entertainment industry, Rhona is also an improviser and has competed in the Vancouver Improv League as captain of the English Bay Blues. She is also a dialect coach, voice teacher, and co-creator of Mistressclass, an educational webinar series for the film industry.
