Rhys Wakefield is an Australian actor and director who began his career on the Australian television series Home and Away, starring in an impressive 363 episodes. His extensive acting credits include starring roles in season 3 of HBO's True Detective, the Purge franchise, James Cameron's Sanctum, and Hulu's Reprisal.
Notably, Wakefield received nominations for Best Actor in a Feature Film from The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards and the Film Critics Circle of Australia for his outstanding performance in The Black Balloon, alongside renowned actress Toni Collette. Prior to his acting career, Wakefield graduated from Australia's prestigious The McDonald College of Performing Arts in 2006.
As a filmmaker, Wakefield co-wrote and directed the critically acclaimed short film, A Man Walks Into a Bar, which was a finalist at the Tropfest International Short Film Festival and gained over 1 million views on YouTube. He also served as an associate producer on the feature film, The Grand Son, and made his directorial debut with the feature-film, Berserk.
