Rick married Janie Yuguchi, a dedicated special education teacher, on February 27th, 1982, in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. This union produced two lovely daughters, Katy, born in April 1986, and Kelsey, born in May 1989.
However, Rick's life took a dramatic turn in November 1989 when he was hospitalized due to an unexpected attack of cardiomyopathy. This health scare led to a year-long hiatus from his work.
After his recovery, Rick attempted to resume his acting career, but it had lost its allure for him. He eventually decided to step away from the profession in 1992 to focus on raising his two young daughters.
Rick's return to the stage was a significant moment, occurring in 2010 when he appeared in a local production of "As You Like It" in Los Angeles. Since then, he has continued to engage in scene workshops as a hobby, collaborating with the talented Joan Darling. In addition, Rick acted in a short film directed by renowned Sundance writer/director Peter Gazdag in 2016.
