Rick Howland is a Canadian actor who holds a Green Card, residing in Los Angeles. He is best recognized for his five-season portrayal of Trick in the popular SyFy series "Lost Girl".
In 2019 and the early months of 2020, Howland took on various roles, including Borachio in the stage production of "Much Ado About Nothing", the antagonist in the feature film "Captain Tsunami's Army", alongside Chris Mulkey in "A Safe Guide to Dying", a severed head on a shelf in "Good Head", and the werewolf transforming Dr. Stan in the web-series "The Vamps Next Door", which he also wrote.
Notably, Howland has been interrogated three times by Yannick Bisson in the television shows "Murdoch Mysteries", "Sue Thomas F.B.Eye", and "Crazy For Christmas". He takes pride in being a part of Canadian history, having played the Commissioner of the Hockey League, Harry Buttman, in the blockbuster feature film "Bon Cop Bad Cop" opposite Patrick Huard and Colm Feore.
Additionally, Howland has appeared in the film "Endless Grind" as the son of Canadian icon Jayne Eastwood, and in the improvised show "Train 48" and the recurring role of Computer Tech, Keach, on "Billable Hours", showcasing his comedic abilities.
Rick Howland's acting career began with improvisation and an excellent acting teacher, winning regional gold medals twice at the Improv Olympics. In 1990, he co-founded the comedy troupe "The Four Strombones", which performed in comedy clubs around Toronto for over a decade. The troupe created an audience choice Toronto Fringe Festival show in 1994, "In Transit: 40 minutes after midnight".
Howland's first professional acting role was in the feature film "To Catch A Yeti" opposite Meat Loaf. He has also hosted comedy shows, written his own stand-up routine for "Club Land" directed by Saul Rubinek, and co-written and directed the short films "Underwritten" and "#Inclusion Rider the movie".
As a singer/songwriter, Howland released the EP, "Hold My Hand", available on iTunes and other streaming platforms. Currently, he is studying at The BGB Studio in Burbank.
