Richard Hughes

British novelist Richard Hughes was born in the charming town of Weybridge, situated in the picturesque county of Surrey, in the year 1900. This remarkable individual was a graduate of the esteemed Oriel College in the historic city of Oxford, where he honed his writing skills and penned his first play, "The Sisters' Tragedy", during his undergraduate years. Initially, Hughes focused on writing plays, holding the esteemed position of president of the Welsh National Theatre at one point. However, he eventually shifted his attention to novels, which would become his primary means of creative expression. In the mid-1920s, Hughes' health began to decline, forcing him to spend a significant amount of time recuperating in the United States and at a quiet farm in Virginia.
