Rio Matsumoto, born Chiyo Konno on October 22, 1982, in Fuchu-shi, Tokyo, Japan, began her career at the tender age of 11 in 1994.
While walking through Tokyo's famous Harajuku district, she was recruited and made her debut under the name Megumi Matsumoto, starring in numerous TV dramas and commercials.
During this period, she appeared in over 20 commercials, showcasing her versatility by promoting a wide range of products, from instant noodles to cosmetics.
However, in 1999, she announced her decision to retire from the entertainment industry to attend high school on a non-celebrity status, leading a normal life by working part-time at a local supermarket.
After graduating from high school in 2002, she made her second debut under the name Rio Matsumoto, quickly gaining recognition for her outstanding performances in over 20 TV dramas.
One of her most notable roles was as Reika Ryuzaki in "Esu wo nerae!", earning her critical acclaim for her perfect portrayal of the character.
