Born on July 17, 1962, in rural Lääne-Viru County, Rita Rätsepp is the daughter of Richard Rätsepp, a forester, and Aino Amanda Rätsepp (née Kull). Her childhood was spent mostly in the small village of Tammiku, where she developed a strong foundation for her future endeavors.
Rita Rätsepp's educational journey began at secondary schools in Rakke and Võhma, after which she pursued higher education at the Tallinn State Conservatory (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). Under the guidance of renowned instructor Mikk Mikiver, she graduated in 1984 alongside notable classmates such as Terje Pennie, Margus Tabor, Kiiri Tamm, Gita Ränk, Toomas Urb, and Peeter Sauter.
