Biography

Rob Cowan is a seasoned producer with a storied 40-year career, having worked on an impressive 45 productions across the globe, from the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland to the vibrant cultures of Jamaica, Luxembourg, and Australia.

After graduating from the University of British Columbia's film school, Cowan began his career in Canada in the early 1980s, serving as an assistant director on a string of successful films, including "Three Men and a Baby," "Stakeout," and "Cocktail," starring the talented Tom Cruise.

Cowan's subsequent projects included working on the films "Betrayed," starring the esteemed Debra Winger, and "Music Box," starring the accomplished Jessica Lange, both of which were produced by the renowned Irwin Winkler.

Following his work on "Guilty by Suspicion," which marked Winkler's directorial debut and starred the iconic Robert De Niro, Cowan was invited to serve as Winkler Films' head of development, a position he held for over 18 years.

During this tenure, Cowan collaborated with Winkler to produce a diverse range of films, including "Night and the City," starring De Niro, "The Net," starring the talented Sandra Bullock, "The Juror," starring Demi Moore, "At First Sight," starring the charismatic Val Kilmer, the critically acclaimed "Life as a House," starring the versatile Kevin Kline, "Enough," starring the captivating Jennifer Lopez, and the biographical drama "De-Lovely," which was selected as the closing night film for the 2004 Cannes film festival.

In 2006, Cowan struck out on his own, producing a wide range of films, including "Righteous Kill," starring De Niro and the legendary Al Pacino, "So Undercover," starring the talented Miley Cyrus, James Wan's worldwide hit "The Conjuring," "Tammy," "The Boss," and "Superintelligence," all starring the hilarious Melissa McCarthy, as well as the blockbuster "San Andreas," starring the talented Dwayne Johnson.

Cowan's long-standing relationship with filmmaker James Wan led to his involvement in producing several of Wan's projects, including "The Conjuring 2," the billion-dollar box office hit "Aquaman," and its sequel, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."
