During his high school years, Kevin Fox had the opportunity to study comedy writing under the guidance of the renowned Danny Simon. This foundational education in comedic writing would later serve him well in his future endeavors.
Fox's academic pursuits took him to Northwestern University, where he studied theater, and later to New York University, where he honed his skills in screenwriting. These experiences would undoubtedly shape his creative voice and approach to storytelling.
In 1987, at the tender age of 23, Fox received his big break when he was selected to direct a short film for Columbia Pictures' Discovery program, under the leadership of Chairman David Putnam. His short film, "The Great O'Grady," premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and garnered widespread acclaim, ultimately leading to Fox selling his script "So I Married An Axe Murderer" to Columbia Pictures and securing a directing deal at Disney under the guidance of Chairman Jeff Katzenberg.
In addition to his listed credits, Fox has made significant contributions to various TV and film projects, including the uncredited rewrites for "My Girl" (1991),starring Dan Aykroyd and Macaulay Culkin, Disney's animated "Runaway Brain" (1995),and Universal's 2017 adaptation of "Woody Woodpecker" (2017).
Fox's work extends beyond the screen, as he has also written the book for an original musical called "Complications," which was work-shopped at the Manhattan Theater Club in New York (1998) and later ran at the Tiffany Theater in Los Angeles (2000) under the title "The Gift," starring Alicia Witt and directed by Andy Fickman.
In recent news, Fox's action comedy "The Man From Toronto" (story by Fox and Jason Blumenthal) premiered in the summer of 2022, starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, and was produced by Escape Artists Productions for Sony Pictures and Netflix. The film became the #1 most viewed movie on Netflix in its first two weeks of release, garnering over 115 million hours of viewing time.
Fox's future projects include an original comedy-thriller called "Run For Your Wife," which he has sold to Netflix and will be produced by Jason Blumenthal and Todd Black at Escape Artists.
