Robert Greene is a multifaceted individual, excelling in both filmmaking and writing. He has garnered significant recognition, including being named one of the 10 Filmmakers to Watch in 2014 by The Independent.
Throughout his career, Robert has received numerous accolades, including the 2014 Vanguard Artist Award from the San Francisco DocFest. His most recent film, Actress, has received widespread critical acclaim.
Robert's previous documentary, Fake It So Real, was featured on several notable lists, including Richard Brody's 15 best films of 2012 and Roger Ebert's best documentaries of the year. His documentary, Kati With an I, was nominated for a Gotham Award and received great reviews upon its release in 2011.
Robert's first feature film, Owning the Weather, was released in 2009 and premiered at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. He has produced and edited over a dozen award-winning documentaries, including Amanda Rose Wilder's Approaching the Elephant.
In addition to his work as a producer and editor, Robert has also edited films such as Alex Ross Perry's Listen Up Philip and Douglas Tirola's Hey Bartender. He has contributed to a variety of projects, including Christmas, Again, Lenny Cooke, Hellaware, and Vanquishing of the Witch Baba Yaga.
Robert has written extensively on documentary film, publishing reviews and essays in publications such as Sight & Sound, Filmmaker Magazine, Hammer to Nail, Nonfics, Press Play, and Criticwire. His first book, Present Tense: Notes On American Nonfiction Cinema 1998-2013, is set to be released in February 2015.
Robert has also been involved in various film festivals and events, including programming a special "cinematic nonfiction" competition at the 2014 Little Rock Film Festival and a week-long seminar of films at Hampshire College in July 2014. He served as Post-Production Supervisor for 4th Row Films from 2002 to 2012.
In January 2015, Robert will take on a new role, helping to lead the Center for Documentary Journalism at the University of Missouri.
