Biography

Robert Hammer, a multifaceted individual, began his life's work as a photographer, honing his skills like a precision instrument. Prior to his foray into filmmaking, Hammer also served in the Army Security Agency, participating in covert operations that would later influence his storytelling.

As a martial arts enthusiast, Hammer spent 25 years studying karate under the tutelage of Ed Parker, eventually becoming a master of the art. This disciplined approach to physical training would serve him well in his future endeavors.

Hammer's passion for filmmaking was sparked by his experience documenting rock acts, including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and The Steve Miller Band. This behind-the-scenes exposure allowed him to meet composer Byron Allred, who would later contribute to the score of his film.

The screenplay "Nightline" by Michael Curtis caught Hammer's attention, and he acquired the rights for a modest $2500. However, the script required significant rewrites before it could be brought to life. Hammer persevered, filming the movie in just 18 days, often using guerrilla-style techniques due to lack of official permission to shoot on location.

Despite the challenges, Hammer's film was released, and he went on to pursue various development deals with Crown International. Although none of these deals materialized, Hammer eventually transitioned into a new career as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for several technical corporations.

As CFO, Hammer discovered a hidden talent for money management, taking on roles such as Vice President of Finance at C Net. Although he is content in his current profession, Hammer has expressed a desire to revisit his filmmaking roots in the future.

For now, Hammer's legacy lies in his cult classic thriller, "Don't Answer the Phone!", which has continued to entertain audiences for nearly three decades.
