Robert Anthony Rigamonti, a multi-talented individual, was born in San Francisco to Blanche and Gino, with his mother being his sole parent, as he was an only child. He was an artist, actor, Buddhist, yoga teacher/therapist, writer, motorcyclist, carpenter, adventurer, and exceptional host, showcasing his diverse range of skills and interests.
Robert's academic journey began at San Francisco State University in 1968, where he concurrently pursued his passion for acting by performing in local theatre productions. He also joined the long-running Equity production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, further honing his craft.
In an effort to expand his acting career, Robert relocated to Manhattan, but he first took a brief hiatus to become a part of the inaugural class of male stewards employed by Pan American World Airways. Following his departure from Pan Am, he returned to acting and resided in Manhattan Plaza for 14 years.
Robert made his Broadway debut as a Stage Manager and actor in a revival of Filumena at the St. James Theatre, with the renowned director Lawrence Olivier taking over the project after the original director, Franco Zeffirelli, withdrew.
Throughout his career, Robert excelled in television, theater, film, and commercial acting. At the age of 38, he relocated to Los Angeles and was subsequently sought after for the position of Theater Manager at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1989.
Robert thrived in this role for many years, earning the admiration and affection of his staff. He remained in this position until his passing in Los Angeles on April 25, 2013.
Robert leaves behind a vast network of friends, his beloved dogs Piccina and Bella, his partner and friend Timothy Smith, his cousins Lisa Schofield and Karen, Lauren, and Sara Guidotti, as well as his family in Pennsylvania and Italy.
