As a renowned educator, critic, preservationist, and Dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Jonathon Rosen has established himself as a leading authority on film criticism, media history, and curatorship. With a remarkable ability to communicate complex ideas, he has delivered lectures at scholarly, public, and professional meetings in over twenty countries around the world.
Rosen's extensive body of published work focuses on media preservation, and he has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the UCLA Film and Television Archive, transforming it into the world's largest university-based repository of original film and television materials.
Throughout his illustrious career, Rosen has held numerous leadership positions in the field of preservation and history. These include serving as the Founding Director of the National Center for Film and Video Preservation at the American Film Institute, a member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Film Archives, and a member of the National Film Preservation Board of the Library of Congress.
