Robin Sherwood was born in Miami Beach, Florida, to the Honorable Wolfie Cohen, a four-term city councilman and successful restaurateur, and Miriam Rose Cohen nee Goldhaber, a socialite and philanthropist, from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The family spent their winters in Miami Beach and summers traveling in Europe.
Robin attended Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale and Northfield Mount Hermon in Gill, Massachusetts, to study creative writing. She began her career as a teenage model and lost her mother to ovarian cancer at the age of 11.
At 14, Robin signed with a talent agency in Miami and landed a national television commercial, fashion modeling assignments in Glamour Magazine, and runway work for designer Oleg Cassini.
She studied acting at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, The London School of Economics and Political Science in London, England, and trained in classical theater and improvisation with Lee Strasberg, Sandra Seacat, and Stella Adler.
Robin made her film debut in independent films, appearing in Coming Attractions (1978) and Outside Chance (1978),a CBS movie of the week. She then starred in the David Schmoeller iconic mystery/horror film Tourist Trap (1979).
After working in independent films, Robin began acting in major motion pictures, including Hero at Large (1980),Serial (1980),Blow Out (1981),and Death Wish II (1982),which made her an international box office star.
In 1983, Robin moved to Paris, France, where her father passed away. She returned to the United States to run his restaurant, The Rascal House Restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida.
Robin continued to work in film, television, and theater, earning critical acclaim for her performances. She launched the frecklefam catalog in 2000 and debuted off-Broadway in Fear Mongers: Fireside Chats about Horror Films in 2010.
Robin has also appeared in the feature-length documentary Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films (2014) and made her first appearance at The Lincoln Center in 2015.
She currently resides in New York, is 5'6", and speaks French. In her free time, Robin enjoys walking, swimming, ballet, and photography. She is interested in art history, philosophy, and horses, and is a fan of Elvis Presley and Motown music.
