Roger Guyett is a renowned English visual effects supervisor and second unit director, whose impressive career spans over three decades.
Guyett's journey began in the mid-1980s in London, where he worked on computer animation projects for commercials, pop videos, and television idents. This experience laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
In 1993, Guyett made the bold decision to relocate to the United States, marking the beginning of his ascent in the film industry. He initially joined Pacific Data Images (PDI),a prominent computer graphics company, where he contributed to various projects, including the iconic Michael Jackson music video "Black or White".
Guyett's exceptional skills and dedication soon caught the attention of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM),one of the most esteemed visual effects companies in the world. He joined ILM in 1995 and spent an impressive 27 years with the company, working on over 30 films during his tenure.
Throughout his illustrious career, Guyett has received numerous accolades, including six Academy Award nominations for his work on films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ready Player One, Star Trek Into Darkness, Star Trek, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
In addition to his Academy Award nominations, Guyett has won two British Academy Film Awards for Best Special Visual Effects and has been nominated a further six times. His impressive track record is a testament to his expertise and commitment to his craft.
Guyett's most recent project was supervising the visual effects for the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the Skywalker Saga, which was released on December 20, 2019.
