Roger was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Chinese parents. He spent his early years in Victoria, British Columbia, until the age of 10, when his parents relocated back to Vancouver.
Roger's fascination with drumming began when his father, Harry, took him to a Burlesque show, where he was captivated by the energy of the drummer who later became his teacher. After the show, his father cautioned him not to reveal the evening's activities to his mother, as it was not suitable for her to know.
Throughout his teenage years, Roger played drums in jazz clubs and dance halls, and later joined the Royal Clefs, a well-established Canadian band, touring the United States. He eventually landed an audition with Kings IV, a high-profile Las Vegas musical comedy act, and performed on the Nevada circuit, including Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe.
As a freelance drummer, Roger played at every major hotel in Las Vegas, solidifying his reputation as a talented musician. During his time in Vegas, he also began studying Kung Fu martial arts, which would later aid him in performing fight scenes in film and television.
Roger joined the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) in Las Vegas and landed his first speaking role in the film "The Gauntlet" starring Clint Eastwood. He continued to act in various roles for TV series, including "Vega$" with Robert Urich, "Kojak," and film roles such as "The Electric Horseman" starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, "Cannonball Run" starring Burt Reynolds, and "Megaforce" starring Barry Bostwick.
Roger's theatrical work began as Sammy Fong, the lead character in "The Flower Drum Song" at the Union Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he landed roles in soap operas, feature films, television, and commercials.
Recognized as an action/fight/stunt performer, Roger was inducted into the Honor Roll of Martial Arts by founder Michael Matsuda at the Martial Arts History Museum in Burbank, California. Currently, he appears in the world-wide commercial for "Clash of Clans," a popular internet game, starring two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz.
