Roger Murray-Leach, a professionally trained architect, pursued a career as a set designer for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) after refining his design skills. His inherent creativity and impressive ability to optimize a limited budget led to a consistent flow of designs for the renowned television series, Doctor Who, which premiered in 1963, under the expert guidance of Philip Hinchcliffe. Hinchcliffe, eager to elevate the design component of the show, was extremely pleased with Murray-Leach's work, which made its debut with the interior design of a space station in the episode "The Ark in Space".
