Rolando Boyce, a talented individual, was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois, within the Panamanian community, being the eldest of his family in the United States. He spent his formative years at Senn Metropolitian Academy High School, where he actively participated in the Drama Club, nurturing his passion for the performing arts.
Upon completing his high school education, Rolando pursued higher studies at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, initially enrolling as a Pre-Pharmacy student. However, his academic journey was temporarily interrupted when he received a call to duty as an Army Reservist during the Desert Storm War. Following his military service, Rolando returned to Chicago in 1996, where he rekindled his love for acting.
He began his professional career in the entertainment industry at Chicago's esteemed ETA & Black Ensemble Theatre. His breakthrough role came when he played William in Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero at the Goodman Theatre, followed by his portrayal of Lincoln in Susan Lori Parks' Topdog/Underdog at the Madison Repertory Theatre.
Rolando's television debut occurred when he appeared in the pilot episode of Fox's Prison Break. He then landed the recurring role of Rufus in R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet, a character he is most recognized for. During his time on the set of Trapped, he met his on-screen wife, LeShay Tomlinson, and they eventually tied the knot in a real-life marriage in 2008. The couple now resides in Los Angeles with their family.
Throughout his career, Rolando has appeared in numerous commercials, television shows, and films.
