Ron Melendez, a Southern California native, had a passion for acting from a young age. His family's weekly trips to the movie theater, where his parents would often take him out of school to see the latest release, inspired him to pursue his dream. At 16, Ron began working in television and commercials, and continued to hone his craft while studying English Literature at UCLA. Despite dropping out of college shortly before completing his degree, Ron's decision to focus on his acting career proved to be the right one. He quickly added credits to his resume, including the lead role in "Children of the Corn III" and a recurring role on "The Nanny".
Ron's breakthrough came in 1998 when he won the lead role in the series "Legacy", earning him positive reviews and being named one of the 12 stars to watch by TV Guide. He went on to win the title role in the NBC pilot "Merlyn", written and executive produced by Tom De Santo, who has since gone on to work on successful projects like the "X-Men" and "Transformers" movies.
In recent years, Ron has maintained a consistent workload, appearing in numerous films and television series, including guest-starring roles in shows like "CSI", "CSI: New York", "Angel", "Charmed", and "Grey's Anatomy". He has also had roles in several pilots, a series regular role on "General Hospital - Night Shift", and a recurring role on "General Hospital".
When not working, Ron enjoys traveling, reading, playing hockey and soccer, and studying languages. He is fluent in Italian, often visiting his family in Lucca, Italy, and has also studied Spanish and French.
In his personal life, Ron is married and expecting his first child.
