Biography

Ron Pederson, a multi-talented individual, was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1978. He joined the vibrant Edmonton theatre scene at the tender age of eight, marking the beginning of his illustrious career. Ron's passion for acting led him to study at the Citadel Theatre School from 1987 to 1991, where he was discovered by renowned playwright Stewart Lemoine, forging a lasting artistic relationship.

Throughout the 1990s, Ron worked extensively with major theatre companies in Edmonton, focusing on the new works of Stewart Lemoine. He is perhaps best known for his starring role in MADtv for three seasons, earning a 2005 Canadian Comedy Award Nomination for Best TV Performance.

Ron has had the privilege of working with many of Canada's prominent theaters, including The Stratford Festival, The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, The Citadel Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, The Arts Club, The Vancouver Playhouse, The Young Centre, The Canadian Stage Company, The Tarragon Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, and The SummerWorks Festival.

As a co-founder and former co-artistic director of Toronto's award-winning National Theatre of the World, Ron has been a driving force behind the company's success. He is also an artistic associate of Edmonton's Teatro La Quindicina and a founding artistic producer of Toronto's newest theatre company, The Theatre Department.

Ron's impressive list of accolades includes a 2011 Canadian Comedy Award for Best Improviser, the RBC Arts Professional award, and the Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award. He has also been nominated for the Jessie Richardson Award and the Merritt Award for his acting work. In 2012, he received the SummerWorks Festival Spotlight Performance Award for his performance in Extinction Song.

In addition to his work in theatre, Ron has appeared on television in shows such as MadTV, INsecurity, The Late Late Show, SideKick, Degrassi, and more. As an acclaimed improviser, he has performed at festivals and theaters across North America and internationally in Chicago, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Halifax, Regina, Vancouver, Charleston, SC, NYC, Los Angeles, Berlin, Norway, and Amsterdam.
