Born in Beershaba, Israel in the year 1964, Ronit Elkabetz was a peculiar child who felt like an outcast, struggling to connect with others. However, her life took an unexpected turn when she began her acting career at the age of 26 with a starring role in Daniel Wachsmann's critically acclaimed film "Hameyu'ad" (1990).
This newfound opportunity allowed Ronit to tap into her complex emotions and use them to connect with the world around her. As a beautiful brunette, she discovered that she could relate to others by expressing her innermost feelings.
Since then, Ronit has appeared in a select few films, but each one has been of significant importance. Her notable roles include Dover Koshashvili's "Late Marriage" (2001),Amos Gitai's "Alila" (2003),and Keren Yedaya's "Or (My Treasure)" (2004). In these films, she portrayed strong, complex characters, including wives, prostitutes, and drug addicts, who have been shaped by their life experiences.
Ronit's talents extend beyond acting, as she has also co-scripted and co-directed the critically acclaimed film "Ve'lakahta Lekha Isha" (2004) alongside her brother Schlomi. The pair is currently working on the second installment, "Seven Days" (2008),which is set to be filmed in the coming year.
In recent years, Ronit has continued to impress audiences with her captivating performances. Her portrayal of a kind-hearted, lonely woman in the 2007 film "The Band's Visit" (also known as "Ha-Hovesh Bamidbar") showcased her ability to bring depth and nuance to her characters.
