Biography

Tony De Meur, professionally known as Ronnie Golden, is a multifaceted British artist, embracing the roles of singer, guitarist, and comedian. His illustrious career began with the formation of the band The Fabulous Poodles, which he founded.

Following the group's disbandment, Golden transitioned to a career in comedy, becoming a member of The Comic Strip. He thrived in the early 1980s, making numerous appearances at The Comedy Store and navigating the London alternative comedy circuit.

Golden's impressive repertoire extends to television, as he appeared in the second episode of the groundbreaking comedy series The Young Ones, suspended upside-down from the ceiling, portraying Buddy Holly, still clad in his parachute.

Currently, Golden fronts an R&B and soul group, Ronnie and the Rex, showcasing his musical prowess. He also contributes to BBC Radio 4's The Right Time, penning songs and sketches.

Throughout his career, Golden has maintained a long-standing creative partnership with Barry Cryer. Together, they performed at the Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People show at The Bloomsbury Theatre and Hammersmith Apollo in December 2009. Their captivating performance was later broadcast on BBC Four on 23 January 2010.
