Rory Aylward is a renowned Military Technical Advisor based in New York City, whose impressive portfolio boasts a range of esteemed projects. His recent work includes collaborating on an episode of the CBS drama "BULL," as well as consulting on feature film scripts for prominent producers Jennifer Todd and others.
Prior to the pandemic-related shutdown, Aylward was kept busy with a plethora of projects. He worked on a court martial episode of the CBS legal drama "The Good Fight," and contributed to the 1967 Newark Riot scenes for "The Many Saints of Newark." He also lent his expertise to episodes of the acclaimed Amazon Prime series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," the CBS drama "Madam Secretary," and the FX pilot "Y."
Aylward's extensive military background has played a significant role in shaping his career. Following the 9/11 attacks, he was tasked with developing a course on disaster preparedness for the National Guard Bureau at the National Interagency Civil-Military Institute. He later became the Team Chief for Anti-Terrorism training, before deploying to the Nuristan Province of Afghanistan as a Civil Affairs Officer.
During his time in Afghanistan, Aylward honed his expertise in Interagency Operations, and was subsequently redeployed to help establish the first-ever Civil-Military Integration training program in State Department history. This program aimed to train and mentor members of the Departments of State and Defense who were deploying to Afghanistan. Aylward redeployed once more to Kunduz Province, where he continued to play a crucial role in shaping military operations.
Since retiring from the United States Army Reserve, Aylward has continued to train members of various government agencies, including Foreign Service Officers, advisors to the Defense and Interior Ministries of Afghanistan, deploying Rifle Companies and Staff Officers and NCOs of the United States Marines, as well as MISO Battalions of the United States Army Special Operations Command.
Before his military service, Aylward worked as a Military Technical Advisor on several films, including "Courage Under Fire" and "A Bright Shining Lie." He also developed the script and served as an Executive Producer on the Hallmark Channel Christmas drama "Silent Night."
