Rose McIver was born in New Zealand to a family of artistic and creative individuals. Her mother, Ann "Annie" Coney, was an artist, while her father, John George Whitfield "Mac" McIver, was a professional photographer. Rose has an older brother, Paul McIver, who is a musician.
Rose's early career began with commercials, where she started appearing when she was just two years old. Her film debut came in 1993 with a role as an angel in the film "The Piano". As a child actress, she was often cast in fantasy television series, including "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and its spin-off "Xena: Warrior Princess". She also appeared in several television films, including "Hercules and the Amazon Women", "Hercules in the Underworld", and "Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur".
As she grew older, Rose began to take on more lead roles in television. She starred in the post-apocalyptic series "Maddigan's Quest" and the comedy-drama series "Rude Awakenings", both of which were unfortunately short-lived. However, she gained more recognition for her role as Summer Landsdown, also known as the Yellow Ranger, in the popular series "Power Rangers RPM". She appeared in all 32 episodes of the show.
Rose's film career also took off during this time. She had a supporting role in the supernatural drama film "The Lovely Bones", playing the younger sister of Susie Salmon, a main character in the film. Her character, Lindsey Salmon, helps investigate her sister's murder.
In the following years, Rose continued to appear in a variety of television shows. She had a main-cast role in the comedy series "Super City" and a recurring role in the period series "Masters of Sex". She also joined the cast of the fantasy series "Once Upon a Time", playing the role of Tinker Bell.
However, it was her role as Olivia "Liv" Moore in the comedy-drama series "iZombie" that truly cemented her status as a leading lady. Olivia is a coroner's assistant who, after being turned into a zombie, must navigate her new undead life while working to control her urges and solve murder mysteries. The show premiered in 2015 and ran for five seasons, solidifying Rose's position as a talented and versatile actress.
