Rowan Athale is a British-Indian film director and screenwriter, boasting a remarkable career trajectory.
He made his feature-film debut as both writer and director with the critically acclaimed heist thriller, The Rise, which premiered internationally at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film garnered numerous award nominations, including the Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA's),Best Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival (LFF),and the Discovery award at TIFF.
Rowan's subsequent feature film, Strange But True, is a noir-thriller produced by Fred Berger, Christina Piovesan, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. The film boasts an impressive cast, featuring Greg Kinnear, Amy Ryan, Nick Robinson, Margaret Qualley, Brian Cox, and Blythe Danner. CBS Films and Lionsgate released the film in the United States in the fall of 2019.
As Rowan continues to make a name for himself in the industry, he is currently casting his next feature as director, the sci-fi thriller Little America. Written by Rowan Athale, the film will be produced by Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes.
