Roy C Patterson's early life was marked by frequent moves, as he spent his first thirty-five years in the Midwest, primarily in Wichita, Kansas. Growing up in a single-parent household, Roy and his twin sister were latch-key kids, often left to fend for themselves while their mother worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. This challenging environment was alleviated by his involvement with the Big Brothers of Sedgwick County program, which paired him with four different mentors over a decade. These "Big Brothers" played a significant role in guiding Roy towards a more stable path, particularly his last mentor, Bill.
Roy's academic journey took him to Wichita South High School, where he graduated in 1983, before attending Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1987, during which time he discovered his passion for acting. Over the next four years, Roy honed his skills by running lights and sound, building stage backdrops, and acting in numerous plays and musicals. His dedication earned him induction into the Alpha Psi Omega national honorary drama fraternity and a feature in Playbill. In 1987, he was awarded "Outstanding Senior in Drama."
Following his graduation, Roy's focus shifted towards his career and personal life, temporarily putting his acting ambitions on hold. However, in 2001, he relocated his family to Tucson, Arizona, seeking a sunnier climate. It was during this time that he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a professional actor and model, securing an agent in 2003.
Since then, Roy has appeared in over a dozen independent films and two TV shows, as well as numerous commercials, including Tucson Electric Power's "Stay Away, Stay Alive" public service announcement, which has been airing for over a decade during Arizona's monsoon seasons.
In addition to his acting pursuits, Roy has also ventured into writing. In 2006, he co-authored and published a science-fiction novel, "I'm Back...and the Truth Hurts!", with his friend Ed. Two years later, they released their second book, "The Nameless Few", as an e-book on Kindle.
Roy is also a 2nd-degree Black Belt in Kenpo, a martial art he has dedicated himself to. He has been married to his wife, Darla, for nearly three decades and is blessed with two talented children.
