Biography

Roy London's remarkable journey as a renowned acting coach in Hollywood spanned the last fifteen years of his life, leaving an indelible mark on the film industry. His profound influence on film acting is still widely recognized today, as he has been credited with mentoring over two hundred and fifty actors on a weekly basis, while also providing private coaching to numerous others.

Beyond preparing his clients for performances, London was also sought after for his expertise in developing and shaping their projects. His unique ability to synthesize techniques from various acting schools, combined with his extensive experience in acting, allowed him to help actors uncover new ways to bring material to life, resulting in captivating performances.

London's coaching style was characterized by a focus on results, with no tolerance for unnecessary psychobabble. His reputation grew exponentially as his students, including those who have gone on to win Academy and Golden Globe Awards, praised his guidance and mentorship.

London's humble beginnings as a coach took place in his own living room, where his classes were initially met with word-of-mouth enthusiasm. In 1984, he moved his operations to his own studio in Hollywood, but opted not to advertise his services, instead relying on his students' testimonials to spread the word about his exceptional coaching.

A documentary celebrating London's work, featuring interviews with over 50 of his students and friends, including notable actors such as Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone, Forest Whitaker, and Jeff Goldblum, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2005, further cementing his legacy as a master acting coach.
