Ruby Myers, professionally known as Sulochana, was a trailblazing Indian silent film actress and producer of Jewish ancestry, specifically from the Baghdadi Jewish community residing in India. As one of the highest-paid movie stars of the 1920s, she carved a niche for herself as an early Eurasian female star of Indian Cinema.
In the mid-1930s, Sulochana took the bold step to establish her own film production house, aptly named Rubi Pics. Her most iconic films include Typist Girl, released in 1926, Balidaan, which premiered in 1927, and Wildcat of Bombay, another 1927 release.
Throughout her illustrious career, Sulochana received widespread recognition and accolades, including the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 1973, a testament to her remarkable lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
