Rudolf Krause, a renowned German actor, was born in 1964 in Karlsruhe. He spent his early years in Karlsruhe until the age of eight, when his family relocated to Hannover. This move sparked his interest in the performing arts, as he began attending the Opera House Hannover and taking part in various musical productions.
Under the guidance of his music teacher, Krause developed a passion for the stage and quickly became involved in numerous productions, working alongside esteemed directors such as Herbert Wernicke and Hans-Peter Lehmann. His experiences in the world of music theater ultimately led him to pursue a career in acting, which he achieved through his studies at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin.
Following his education, Krause held engagements at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord in Wilhelmshaven. He then transitioned to freelance work, appearing in a range of productions across Berlin, Vienna, and Zurich, including the Maxim-Gorki-Theater, the Berliner Ensemble, the Neuköllner Oper, and the Fasson Theater Zürich.
In addition to his work in theater, Krause has also made a name for himself in television, with notable roles in productions such as the crime series Unter Verdacht. His performance as Hauptkommissar André Langner in the pilot film Verdecktes Spiel earned him a nomination for the prestigious Deutsche Fernsehpreis in the category of Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Krause has also been recognized for his work as a teacher, sharing his expertise in improvisation and scene work as a dozent at the Michael Tschechow Studio Berlin. He is a member of the Freyer Ensemble, founded by the renowned artist Achim Freyer, and has collaborated with Freyer on productions at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, and the Musiktheater Linz 'Cage Stage'.
Throughout his career, Krause has demonstrated his versatility and range as an actor, effortlessly transitioning between different genres and formats. His dedication to his craft has earned him numerous accolades, including the Adolf-Grimme-Preis, which he received in 2003 for his outstanding performance in the pilot film Verdecktes Spiel.
