Rune Bendixen is a writer and director with an extensive track record spanning over 25 years in the entertainment industry. He made music history by releasing Scandinavia's first Techno singles with his band The Overlords, which led to world fame and sold over 3,000,000 units.
Rune Bendixen directed music videos for The Overlords and found a passion for storytelling. He teamed up with writer/producer Kit Carson to write, produce, and direct the American action movie Bullfighter, which starred Willem Dafoe, Robert Rodrigues, Guillermo Del Toro, Jared Harris, and Donnie Wahlberg.
After four years in LA, Rune Bendixen moved back to Denmark to write, produce, and direct two box office hits, Rich Kids, and the popular children's IP Bølle Bob, both for Disney. Bølle Bob has spawned two sequels, books, a musical, and numerous records, and is ranked as one of the most popular children's IPs in Scandinavia.
Rune Bendixen moved on to television to build the TV-production company BLU with Henrik Hancke and Per Zachariassen for Fremantle Media. The production company became a market leader in Scandinavia with shows like Idol, X-Factor, and You Got Talent.
Rune Bendixen found international success as a creator of 20 TV-formats, including acclaimed shows like Topmodel, Smid Tøjet for Red Cross, Elle Style Awards, and House Hunters.
In 2010, Rune Bendixen was headhunted by Aller Media to head the company's media innovation department and build the company's new TV- and film department, Aller Visuals. With clients like Audi, Mercedes, Pandora, Toyota, and Elle Magazine, Aller Visuals became one of Scandinavia's leading commercial production companies.
As head of Aller Innovation, Rune Bendixen developed brand extensions for 35 of the most iconic print brands in Scandinavia and was the mastermind behind digital products like Royalista, CelebQuiz, and the no#1 US App-store WordFeud.
In 2015, The Overlords signed a worldwide record deal with Universal Records to digitize their immense back catalog and release new remixes of previous tracks, featuring renowned artists like Vince Clarke, Youth, Liquid Gold, and others.
In 2015, Rune Bendixen founded the trans-media production house, Gunpowder Studios, with long-time writing partner Jean Pierre Margo. Gunpowder Studio developed the critically acclaimed comic book series Agent 47: Birth of the Hitman, released worldwide through Dynamite Entertainment, based on the popular computer game Hitman.
