Rusty Nelson, a man of great distinction, was born in Abington, a charming town just outside the vibrant city of Philadelphia. He went on to graduate with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the esteemed University of Dayton's School of Business.
Senator and Astronaut John Glenn, a man of great stature, personally recommended Nelson to the Air Force's elite flight school, where he was handpicked to fly the U-2 spy plane, a mission briefed to the President, CIA, and DEA. During this time, Nelson seized the opportunity to pursue his graduate studies, graduating in the top five of his class.
Upon leaving the military with honors, Nelson embarked on a new chapter in his life, becoming the CEO of Cedar Mountain Inc., a light manufacturing company. He later sold his portion of the business to pursue another lifelong goal: becoming a director. With his exceptional professionalism and dedication, Nelson embarked on an intensive self-educating journey to master the art of filmmaking.
Recognizing the importance of understanding various professions in the filmmaking process, Nelson began taking acting lessons to gain insight from the inside out. To further develop his skills, he worked as a production assistant, grip, gaffer, stand-in, camera operator, director of photography, editor, and producer, allowing him to enhance his abilities.
Nelson also directed various short films, TV shows, and commercials, with his shorts serving as a training tool rather than festival submissions. Despite this, they all managed to secure nominations in various festivals. His last short, Virus³, was nominated for a Slate Award and Best Short, while the Lee Strasberg Institute selected Nelson to premiere the project.
Nelson's training extended beyond the mechanics of production, as he took the next step in his journey and relocated from Sacramento to Los Angeles with the goal of directing a TV show. Just five months later, he was asked to direct his first TV show for FOX Sports Net.
