Born on April 27, 1938, on the picturesque Bangka Island, Dutch East Indies, Ruth was the eldest child of Christina Moniyung and Jacob Pelupessy, a family of four siblings. Her sisters, Joice Wangi Pelupessy, Joyce Pelupessy, and Hanny Pelupessy, all pursued careers in modeling and acting, becoming some of the most sought-after stars in Bandung during the 1950s.
